How to Host Your [Custom Domain] Website for FREE with Netlify.

Hello everyone!! and welcome to my very first blog. Today I'll be showing you how to add a custom domain name to your Netlify hosted website.

What is Netlify?

Netlify is an all-in-one platform for automating modern web projects. Netlify offers a generous free website hosting plan, along with other plans with premium features. In this video, we utilize Netlify's free static website hosting service.

Note: I will assume you have already deployed your website directly from your Git repository or a folder.

Now let's move on to the next level and set up a domain you already own.

Step 1:

As you can see step one is your site is deployed check and that's done now we're going to set up our custom domain left-click on this.

Step 2:

Add the custom domain name that you own mine is going to be webdevmauli.com left-click on verify you'll then get a piece of text that says webdevmauli.com already has an owner is it you Do you want to hit yes add domain.

Step 3:

Populated the Namecheap/GoDaddy custom DNS with Netlify's name servers. Click on it to save so it gives you a prompt here that says DNS server update may take up to 48 hours to take effect. All right go back to the Netlify website and as you can see the website currently displayed is not the same as the website that we uploaded to Netlify and this is due to the new name servers taking up to 48 hours to propagate. We just simply need to wait until our website has propagated.

So that's it. This is how you can add your custom domain to Netlify.
